CARL PERKINS
The Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical
Education Act (Perkins) was most recently reauthorized in August 2006.
The purpose of Perkins is to provide individuals with the academic and
technical skills needed to succeed in a knowledge- and skills-based
economy. Perkins supports career and technical education that prepares
its students both for postsecondary education and the careers of their
choice.

The Minnesota West Carl Perkins Consortium is comprised of 40 high
schools and 5 post-secondary campuses. Staff from the SW/WC Service
Cooperatives, Minnesota River Valley Education District, and Minnesota
West Community College work together, with help from our partners, to
provide a variety of resources to consortium schools to improve the
quality and technical education and provide career development
opportunities for learners of all ages.
